ARE YOU WITH ME?

This solo/monologue speaks about the human project of communication with gestures, words, idioms, literature, numbers, etc. It is a piece where my intangible heritage has agency to become visible and audible, an intent of explaining the complications of identity, going from intimate issues through linguistic concerns into social and politic ones.

The papers of my dress are data, copies of the real documents I was asked (and I am still asked) to get a VISA, a marriage permission, a resident permit.

Paraphrasing Halprin that the way we experience our bodies is our story,  our myth and our personal ritual, my scattered dress becomes into words flying and falling around, also represents the intelectual process of writting ´a paper`.

Immobile, on the floor, papers become the metaphor of the annals of history, where unnamable time and energy are invested and thrown into one another.

Fighting with history, my story emerges through my dancing body.

My exchanges with Sristi KC (Nepali visual impaired dancer) made me think about the possibilities of an independent sound dramaturgy for the actions.

The artists Panaibra Gabbriel Canda and Guillermo Gomez Peña are also very inspiring artist and persons and I feel this piece can “converse” with their works.
